Using my decade of experience - including how to get things done for local organisations - I’d written to The Scottish Government about it on Monday and followed this up today, working actively as their/your local constituency MSP… I was therefore very pleased that shortly after the matter had been resolved. I know it’s been a worrying time for the centre and am relieved that immediate worries have been lifted. My team and I will keep working with the centre to explore more funding streams, and support the impactful work they do in our communities.

We would like to highlight a citywide consultation that is open until 2 March relating to restricting mobile phone use in high schools. The City of Edinburgh Council want to hear from everyone in our school communities.
There are dedicated surveys for Pupils; Parents and Carers and school staff. You can access the relevant survey at the links in the comments.
An Integrated Impact Assessment is also underway, and further focus groups will take place over the coming weeks. Findings will be reported back to Committee later this year.

I have pressed for the release of 87 pages of internal Scottish Government documents after 22 FOI refusals since 2021. They show Ministers were advised on 24 March 2023 that no funding had been identified to take the Nairn bypass into procurement and construction. That is the reality they chose not to share with the public. The same papers also show Transport Scotland pressing to ditch the long held pledge to dual the whole A96 and replace it with a reduced package of limited bypasses. I have raised this issue time and time again in Holyrood on my constituents’ behalf, and I will continue to do so until the job is done. There is no hiding place and no excuse for failing to deliver on promises made time and time again to the Highlands. This is not how public business should be done. I will make sure my constituents and the people of the Highlands get the safer roads they deserve.

My message to her is to come forward and be honest.” The mum of a tragic ten year old who died after contracting a water infection at a Glasgow super-hospital has demanded honesty from Nicola Sturgeon. At an emotional press conference, Kimberly Darroch said the former SNP First Minister “knows something” about the dirty water scandal and urged her to provide answers. She also accused the Scottish Government of failing victims and claimed Sturgeon and Swinney have been hiding from her. The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital opened in 2015 but has been dogged by safety issues that are being investigated by a public inquiry by Lord Brodie. Several children died and at least 84 people fell ill after catching infections at the super-hospital. In 2019, the Record exclusively revealed that ten year old cancer patient Milly had been one of the victims two years earlier after a whistleblower bravely came forward. NHSGCC initially denied a link between the building and a spike in infections, but days ago admitted the infections were probably linked to bugs in the water system. The board also claimed pressure had been applied for the QEUH to open on time, adding that it was “not ready” to do so.

The PMDD Power is Edinburgh’s first support group for Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), with meetings taking place at Leith Community Centre.
The group provides a supportive space for those who self‑identify with, or have been diagnosed with, PMDD. It is peer‑led and offers an informal environment aimed at fostering understanding, connection, and support for people living with PMDD.
The group is also seeking local collaboration to help strengthen the support available to attendees.

I suggest you look at the facts. Under the SNP foreign owned renewable companies have put down windfarms wherever they wanted regardless of the ability of the grid to utilise much of the power they produce. They do not offer cheaper power to local communities because the SNP failed to grasp the opportunity to make them via the planning process. Instead they offer derisory 'community benefits' and grab huge profits, even when not putting energy into the grid (google constraint payments). Unfortunately the SNP government, which contains no person with substantial business experience, is constantly run rings around by less than trustworthy big business.

With the current spell of cold weather, we want to remind everyone about the Warm and Welcoming Spaces available locally. These include council buildings as well as partner and community venues where you can drop in, join activities, or simply feel at ease in a safe, warm environment.
Some of these locations also offer guidance on alleviating food and fuel poverty.

New figures published today show that long waits in Scotland’s NHS - for inpatients and outpatients - have fallen for the sixth month in a row. The figures also show significant year-on-year increase in activity.

That's strange....because in recent months in your own NHS Lothian area, cataracts have gone from 90 weeks at the end of October to 106 weeks and down to 104.
